discovery+ plans and prices, October 2026
discovery+ sells two plans directly on discoveryplus.com, and as of October 15, 2026, both cost a dollar or two more than they used to. If you have been watching HGTV marathons or saving The First 48 for a rainy afternoon, here is the plain version of what the service costs now and what you actually get for it.
This is a straight explainer. No speculation about what is coming, no padding. Just the two plans, the price change and when it hits your bill, what discovery+ carries, the devices its help center names, how the Amazon route works, and where the service shows up included with a larger package.
The two discovery+ plans and what they cost
discovery+ offers two plans direct. As of October 15, 2026, discovery+ (with ads) is $6.99 monthly and discovery+ (Ad-Free) is $11.99 monthly. There is no annual price shown on the site. discovery+ notes that these prices do not include applicable taxes.
Both plans stream on 4 devices at once in Full HD. The Ad-Free plan adds one thing the with-ads plan does not have: 100 downloads, so you can load up episodes to watch on the go.
So the lowest price for discovery+ direct is the $6.99 monthly with-ads plan. The step up to Ad-Free buys the removal of ads and those 100 downloads; the other features the site lists, 4 devices at once and Full HD, are the same on both.
What changed in the October 2026 price increase
Per discovery+'s own help center article on plan price changes, the with-ads plan went up by $1 to $6.99 monthly, and the Ad-Free plan went up by $2 to $11.99 monthly. That means the previous prices were $5.99 monthly and $9.99 monthly.
The timing depends on whether you are new or already subscribed. New subscribers pay the new price starting October 13, 2026. Current subscribers see the change on their first billing date on or after November 12, 2026. If you are on a promotional discount, you keep that price until the promotion ends.
One important wrinkle: if you are billed through Amazon Prime Video Channels, DIRECTV, The Roku Channel or Sling TV, you hear about any price change from that provider, not from discovery+. Check the account where your subscription actually lives.
What discovery+ carries
According to discovery+'s About page, the service pulls from HGTV, Food Network, TLC, ID, Animal Planet and Discovery Channel, plus BBC natural history programming. If your comfort-watch rotation leans toward home renovations, true crime and nature docs, this is the lineup built for it.
The page claims more than 70,000 episodes across 2,500 or more current and classic shows. Named titles include The First 48, Dance Moms and Married at First Sight, which tells you the tone: unscripted, bingeable, deep back catalogs you can disappear into.
New subscribers are eligible for a 7-day trial at discoveryplus.com or in the app, per the help center, though it notes trial availability is subject to change. If you start a trial now, the price that follows it is the new one: $6.99 monthly with ads or $11.99 monthly for Ad-Free, as of October 15, 2026.
Devices, Amazon, and the ownership change
discovery+'s install article names iPhone and iPad, Android phones and tablets, Fire tablet, Roku, Xbox and VIZIO SmartCast TVs. For other TV devices, the article points you to that device's app store rather than naming every TV platform, so if your device is not on that list, check its store.
On the Amazon side, discovery+'s help center says Amazon Prime members can add discovery+ as a Prime Video Channel. Two things to know: a subscription bought that way does not include access to the discovery+ app itself, and the article gives no price for that route. discovery+ is an add-on on Amazon, not part of a Prime membership.
As for who owns it, discovery+'s company update FAQ says Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Skydance are coming together as Skydance. The FAQ says subscribers do not need to do anything and can keep using discovery+ as they do today.
Where discovery+ comes included
If you would rather not manage a standalone subscription, discovery+ comes included with Spectrum Stream TV Signature ($100/mo for 1 year; standard rates apply after), and with Stream TV Pro and Stream TV VIP. Spectrum Internet is required and sold separately; Internet 100 is $20/mo for 2 years with a Spectrum TV plan.
Signature also carries 150+ live channels and a set of other included apps: HBO Max Basic With Ads, the Disney+ and Hulu bundle, ESPN Unlimited, Paramount+ Essential, Peacock Premium with Ads, AMC+ with Ads, FOX One and ViX Premium with ads.
If you are already weighing a live TV package, discovery+ riding along inside one is worth factoring in.
